                        Classic Car Loading Time

Loading classic cars usually takes longer than loading regular vehicles because of their age, value, and condition. The time depends on a few factors:

  • Condition & Size of Vehicle – Cars that are lower to the ground, wider, or more delicate may require extra time.

  • Equipment Used – Enclosed trailers with hydraulic lift gates are often used, which are safer but slower compared to open trailers with ramps.

  • Number of Cars Being Loaded – A single car can be secured in 30–60 minutes, but multiple classic cars could take hours.

  • Extra Precautions – Protecting with covers, using soft straps instead of chains, checking clearance, and documenting condition all add time.

???? For one classic car, expect about 30–60 minutes.
???? For a full load (6–8 classics in an enclosed trailer), it can easily take 3–5 hours, sometimes longer if access is tight or cars need special handling.

Here’s why:

  • Pre-inspection & photos (2 hours for 8 vehicles) – That’s expected, especially with classic cars. Customers usually demand condition reports with detailed photos before transport.

  • Loading 8 classics (8 hours) – That’s about 1 hour per car, which is standard when you factor in:

    • Delicate handling and slow driving up ramps/lift gates.

    • Use of soft straps instead of chains.

    • Double-checking clearance (bumpers, exhaust, mirrors).

    • Extra care with steering, brakes, or non-running vehicles.

    • Balancing load weight inside the trailer.

For comparison:

  • Regular dealer cars can sometimes be loaded in 20–30 minutes each.

  • Classics/collector cars often take 45–90 minutes each.
